The Stars of Paradise family of companies began over 65 years ago as a single Pearl Harbor cruise operator. The company has since grown in scope, expanding with its catering, transportation, shows, photography and off-site entertainment companies. Here is our story.
STAR OF HONOLULU CRUISES & EVENTS
Paradise Cruise, Ltd. began in 1957 with two small vessels for Pearl Harbor excursions. By 1981, the current management team joined the establishment and set out to diversify the company.
At the time, there were over 15 companies on Oahu offering basic dinner cruises with disposable tableware and all-you-can-drink cocktail concepts. Our goal was to differentiate ourselves by delivering a high-quality “Experience of Aloha,” a unique concept at the time. By 1992, the company developed an all-new “Royal Sunset” dinner cruise concept and constructed the 1,500-passenger “Star of Honolulu,” Hawaii’s largest dinner cruise vessel, designed specifically for sailing in Hawaiian waters and included full A.D.A. compliant facilities (including elevators), designer interiors, and customizable banquet facilities for special events.
To assure our quality and value, Star of Honolulu Cruises & Events opened Paradise Kitchen in 1996. Today, Paradise Kitchen produces over 500,000 meals annually from luau buffets to fine dining gourmet dinners, breakfast and lunch buffets, Hawaiian plate lunches, outside catering and more.
ROYAL STAR HAWAII TRANS & TOURS
Also in 1996, the company purchased outgoing Grayline Hawaii’s operating permits to expand its in-house transportation services, and Royal Star Hawaii Motorcoach Tours & Destination Services was created. Until today, customers resonate with Royal Star’s unique on-time and vehicle guarantees, “Aloha on Wheels” drivers, 100% seat belt, Drive-Cam, and all-new Michelin tire features. Royal Star also offers Hawaii’s #1 visitor attraction, the Arizona Memorial and USS Battleship Missouri tours, daily.
In 2004, the company began Paradise Imaging, its photography service company specializing in capturing guests’ most memorable moments.
In 2011, the company debuted sister entertainment company, Rock-A-Hula, Waikiki’s largest Hawaiian dinner show at the premier 750-seat Royal Hawaiian Theater. Today visitors and residents alike are whisked away on a “Hawaiian Journey” from the 1920s to current with power performances of music and dance by the largest Hawaiian cast of artists, hula, fire knife dancers and musicians.
PARADISE TO-GO ENTERTAINMENT
By demand, Paradise To-Go Entertainment was created in 2017 to provide premium level of off-site entertainment to customize private events from authentic fire knife and hula dance performances to upscale Jazz trios and Elvis and Michael Jackson artists. All brands are recipients of the coveted Certificate of Excellence by TripAdvisor for multiple years in a row.
